Privacy Statement

This privacy statement sets out our policy towards safeguarding information which you disclose to us in using the Prangle.ie website.

Where does Prangle stand on privacy? Do we ever disclose personal information such as names, email addresses to third parties such as other agencies, employers, recruitment agencies, advertisers etc?

In a nutshell, no. Prangle Ltd respects your right to privacy. We will never wilfully disclose any information relating to you which could be used to identify you on an individual basis to any third party without first receiving your express permission.

Personal information for the purposes of this privacy statement is information that can identify an individual such as their name, address, or contact details. Any personal information which you volunteer to us will be treated with the highest standards of security and confidentiality, in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 1988.

Where Prangle asks users for personal information (such as name, email address and news organisation) from which they can be identified on an individual basis, we will only do this where we require that information for specific purposes, for example registration on the site.

You should be aware that each time you visit a website, general information about your visit is retained. As with most Internet sites, our website collects a variety of technical data, including your IP address (a unique number identifying your access account on the Internet), domain, and Web browser information.

We regularly collect this technical information to provide us with a general picture about the number of people who visit and return to this website; the pages and subsections that they visit; where they were before they came to our site; and their exit point. This information helps us to monitor our site's traffic, improve the site's functionality and generally assess user behaviour and interest in and use of the site's various areas.

This type of information and data can be collected through the standard operation of our Internet servers and logs as well as "cookies" (see below).

We may disclose certain aggregated totals regarding registration information to a third party. For example, potential clients (eg PR agencies and/or news organisations) may request general demographic information about the average usage of our website. In providing this information, we will not disclose any of your personal details, or other information (such as a company or organisation's name) that might then be used to identify any individual users or their organisations.

Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your web browser from our server and stored on your computer's hard drive. We use cookies to store and retrieve registered users' login information so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site. Information stored on these cookies is not used in any other manner.

You may want to prevent the use of cookies by disabling them in your Web browser. But please note that cookies are necessary in order to provide you with certain features that enhance how certain information is delivered, and that turning off your cookies may reduce these customisation elements - and some parts of the website may not operate properly.

Security and Privacy

Prangle Ltd strives to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personally identifiable information of our users. We use a variety of physical and electronic security measures to keep personal information secure from misuse, loss or unauthorised use or disclosure. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. Individual users must also share responsibility in ensuring that their passwords are kept safe and secure from others.

Legal Disclosure

In certain very specific legal circumstances we may be obliged to disclose personal information relating to you to third parties. These circumstances would include requirements of law or to comply with any legal process, as well as to protect and defend the rights of property of Prangle Ltd and/or our other users of the Prangle website.

Privacy of Agencies Posting Material To This Site

The only information from a news provider available on the site is the releases posted by the agency, and the agency's contact information which it provides (such as its website's URL, and its general telephone number and email address).

Agencies registered to use Prangle are responsible for their "user profile" information on Prangle. Agencies may create or amend their profiles via the "My Prangle" control panel, but with the express knowledge that this profile is their "public face" and available for registered journalists on the site to read.

If you provide a press release or other editorial material to the Prangle website, you recognise that this material may be quoted and used by members of the media.

The agency posting this material is responsible in ensuring that the material does not infringe upon the privacy rights of others. Note that any personal information which is disclosed within releases posted to this website can be collected and used by third parties unknown to either you or to Prangle Ltd. Therefore, we cannot give any guarantee in relation to the security of information which you disclose in your postings to the site, and you acknowledge and agree that you do so at your own risk.

Access to Personal Information

You have a right to access most personal information we hold about you and if we deny access in some circumstances we will tell you why. To request access, please contact us at privacy@prangle.ie

Prangle Ltd reserves the right to amend this privacy statement at any time, so please check this privacy statement regularly for any amendments.
